Lyaskovets Town Hall

Lyaskovets is a town in central northern Bulgaria, located in homonymous municipality of Veliko Tarnovo Province, 10 km northeast of Veliko Tarnovo, 2 km southeast of Gorna Oryahovitsa and 5 km south of the Yantra River, north of the Balkan Mountains. Its name comes from the word leska ('hazel') or leshnik ('hazelnut'), because the tree was abundant in the area.

The city of Videle is located geographically in the central-south part of the Romanian Plain, in the sub-unit of Găvanu-Burdea, this administrative territory being at the contact of important traffic arteries for Teleorman county.

Altitudinally, it falls between the minimum parameter of 89.7 m on the Glavacioc river valley, and the maximum of 107.7 m in the location area of the C.F.R. station and Deposits.

From the administrative point of view, this city belongs to Teleorman county. The distance to the city of Bucharest is 50 kilometers (by rail) and also 50 kilometers separate it from the municipality of Alexandria and the city of Roşiorii de Vede.

In the north it neighbours the communes Marşa and Bucşani, to the east the commune Mereni, to the south, the communes Moşteni and Crevenicu, to the west the village of Blejeşti.
